in Canada at 364ppm. Only Ontario gas at 530ppm exceeds it.

In contrast, California gas is less than 100ppm and usually closer to 25ppm.

Check with the local BMW dealer's service manager to see how many short block replacements they do.

I am looking to buy my 7th BMW, a 1994 530i. I am aware of the sulpher V8 problem and have been since 1994. However, I live in Montreal, Canada and if my memory serves me correctly, I remember that gasoline in Canada is not as abrasive as US gasoline. I had read that while living in Florida at the time and wished I was in Canada in order to buy a 530. Well, now I live in Canada and am wondering if our 530s are affected by the whole sulfer issue.

I hope you can help me so that I can expedite my buying decision.

Thanks so much,

Zaid Lama
