I bought my oxygen sensor from BMP. They sell Bosch. I was concerned that some of the other places might be selling some off brand.

Sorry to hear what your going through, I had almost the same problem and the only way your going to get throught it is with fresh new tips and information from this board and qualified mechanics. I'm glad and honored to be of service to you.

A few Q's:

1. Have you had an inspection done recently?

If you haven't then it would save yourself alot of pain, money and heartache to have this done before you start buying parts you don't need at this time.

2. How many times have you bled the system?

However many times you may have done it add +5 for good measure. These cars are known to be hard to bleed.

As far as the "hot" start is concerned I heard that this is normal and the new fan clutch should keep your temp in check but if you find out otherwise keep the board posted. I feel your pain and I know it sucks having to watch the freaking needle every five seconds (I guess true Luxury has its price).

90 535i (sharked)

P.S. Don't go cheap, look for reasonably priced from respected distributors ("BMP", Bimmer, etc).

After changing coolant in my car - it still SOMETIMES overheats. The needle goes a little towards 3/4 mark, not very often - when i sit in traffic. I've spent hours searching and reading archives...I have a new water pump , new T-stat. I bled the system today....
What did i found???? I found that i can stop my fan blade with my hand!!!!! Which i've read isn't normal and i think it's about time i change my fan clutch...
Maybe this will help me with my overheating. But one thing still bugs me - when I turn the key the temp needle is at 3/4 mark - many of you replied to me that this is normal and my needle goes back to middle mark in less then 30 seconds. But it didn't go up first week
And my friend who has 94 530 doesn't have this problem either.... Anyone can suggest me something on this hot start "problem"?
One more question: Where is the cheap place to buy Fan clutch and Oxygen sensor (it wasn't changed before and my MPG is 11 in city).
Thank God there is such thing as this board and archives...
To Bruno: Nice website!!!!Very helpfull....!!!!!
Thanks for input!!!
