I just put in rear Bilsteins in my 95 530i. Kept springs stock. Back of car went up about 1/4" due to high gas pressure. Ride is noticeably firmer but not at all harsh. Mine were not Sports but the HD. It is never clear if the Sports are valved any differently than the HDs. I was told that the differences lately are usually that Sports are designed for lowered cars. Not the case a few years ago when Sports were significantly stiffer. If you have any more details on that let me know. Bottom line is I recommend Bilsteins. I have used them for 25 years and they are very durable without degrading over time.
Well I thought I had figured out which springs and struts to buy based on what I had read in this forum. Eibach springs and Boge shocks. That was until I phoned Bavauto to order them and they said that if I used normal hight shocks with lowed springs I would run into problems. They said that I should really get their springs and Bilstiens sport shocks if I wanted to lower my car and not have to harsh a ride. Is anybody else using this combo ? Is it too harsh ?
