I ran carfax on a Texas E34 listed on ebay and it reported it in Texas and clean. What was interesting is that it originated in N.J. and auctioned 3 times in Texas. I wonder if auctioning has a way to allow for odometer rollback.

CarFax doesn't apply to these Texas cars. Again, hear-say.
