I have had my instrument cluster out twice without removing the steering wheel :-) This may only work with the non airbag wheel as the cluster comes out (sideways and face down) through the space between the hub and rim. My wheel has three spokes with the horizontal bar that slopes toward the dash along the top edge.

There are three sizes of lamp for the instrument cluster: 1.2, 1.5 and 3 watt. The 1.5s are used for odometer, PRNDL display and matrix display backlight, 1.2 for the other small indicators. There are 3x 3W for the instrument B/L. Although mine is a stick, there was a lamp in the PRNDL. I found the odometer was too bright and the OBC display too dim so I put a new 1.2 in the odo and swapped the 1.5s into the OBC with good results. I also found some 3W Krypton bulbs that claim 2x life at Canadian Tire (made by GE). Not a bad idea considering the effort involved.

Help!! Is there an easier way to replace the mileage indicator bulb on the instrument cluster without removing the entire cluster/steering wheel?
