If you can get the service records, go over them and check when major/not so major things were done. If they are not available, have an inspection I done at either a dealer ($), or a BMW independent. Check front suspension, brakes. Replace rotors as well as pads (do you have any shimmy at all???)
Have all the fluids changed... check archives for various suggestions as to type (synthetic or regular).
That is not a lot of miles for the 535... its a great engine...

Do this before the "tricking/custom" and at least you know you will be starting with a fresh servicing.

Most of all... enjoy the car... its great... (sometimes you should just turn up the radio instead of listening for clinks/clunks/and kerthumps).

Gordon, is that a pic of your engine compartment today, or back when it was new? I wish mine looked 1/2 as clean ! Great looking car!
