If a Service Light reset procedure is performed BEFORE the Oil or Inspection service light on the dash comes on, will the counters leading to a service light get reset? Or do you have to wait until the light comes on to perform the reset?
Reasoning: I am the new (proud, excited, happy) owner of a '92 525i Touring in Alpine White. While I have a bunch of service records from the warranty period on the car, I do not have some of the VERY recent info, such as when the last oil service/tranny service was performed. None of the service lights are on, and I am showing 4 greens on the indicators, but that could have simply been a recent reset with no service. Ideally I would like to perform a number of service items (before it gets too damn cold) and reset the counters on the service intervals to reflect the newly serviced situation.
Okay, I am just ITCHING to dig in and play with my new toy....
Thanks in advance - the amount of info on this board is really impressive. At this point I have read back to week 14 in the archives and someday I hope to learn something worth relaying to the rest of you!
