Well, the Hella dealer recommended not upgrading to 80 bulbs. He suggested the extra heat created by the larger bulbs risks cracking the "lens" unit in the ellipsoid lamp. While i have heard this before, I have never heard of it actually happening. Anyone??

Now, Twigg's experience is truely scary! Burning out the LKM is not something would like to do.

hmmm...any more thoughts out there??

I have found a source for 80watt 9006 (low beam) lamps.

Is anyone on the board running these lamps in their US spec ellipsoids? I've heard conflicting reports on running these lamps.

I have also sent an email to the shop asking if they have any specific information.

Here's the link to the bulbs if anyone is interested.
