The vin number doesn't get/translate into an engine number. You need to look around the engine (on the engine) for an engine number. According to BMW Chilton's manual that I have the 4 cylinder engines have the number stamped on the intake side of the crankcase. On 6 cylinders it's on a pad at the clutch end of the crankcase. I have yet to find the one on my 325i which is a 6 cylinder. Happy hunting.

I have vin number, I need engine number.
Help.
P.S. Please.
