Hello all.

I have had three BMWs to the date (four, actually), and I already know them pretty well. I know about their reliability, their handling and all the works. Did much of the maintenance myself.
...[snip]

been checking some Porsches. For a little more than I can buy a 93 325i, I can get a Porsche 944 turbo. I was wondering about reliability in these cars. I know they must handle better than BMW's, but I don't have too much to spare for Porsche maintenance. Anyone willing to help me? Anyone here drives any to compare?

Thanks.

I happen to have both and yes the Porsche performance is VERY good but it comes with a price the maintenace/parts are higher, you can do the oil change and stuff check out p-car.com for a lot of DIY stuff to see if it fits your expectations. If properly maintained the Porsche is very reliable and delivers. Although my E34 has been incredibly reliable I drive the Porsche a little bit more.

Cheers
