I used to own a Porsche 944, which I purchased with only 12,000 miles on the odo. Although I always enjoyed driving the car (very well-balanced but a little slow for my tastes in its normally aspirated form), I spent a small bloody fortune on many major repairs. Most of these repairs were for unusual mechanical and electrical failures. These failures occurred with all-too-great regularity. I was meticulous about maintenance and I did not drive the car in an abusive manner. The 944 is not a particularly well-built nor reliable machine and if you are thinking about getting a Porsche, IMHO you might consider one of the post 1984 911 series cars. I would never even think of owning a 944 or 968 series again.

Best of luck to you.
Paul S.
