All 1994 and early 1995 540i 6spd have a lower, stiffer suspension (not self leavering), sport seats. That is the only major differences in 6spd and automatic. All use a limited slip diff. Traction control is an option. In later 1995 BMW came out with a 540i (sport). A M5 version 540i with the same V8. less than 200 roam the U.S This car has all the features of the E34 M5 Guages, mirrors, door trim, sterring wheel, self leavering suspension, bigger brakes,1 touch up/down windows illuminated stick shift, throwing star M5 wheels, european airbag (same as M3).
You will notice the 1995 E34 has a wider hood, kidney grill, color matched body mouldings, side turn signals, radio and phone display appear on dash, and has smaller airbag in sterring wheel.(best year for this body style).
See if you can take the car to a BMW dealer for a pre-purchase inspection. They will be able to tell you all the warranty work done, as well as the vehicle history.
Make sure all the VIN # are on the body panels hood, doors, fenders, trunk, rear 1/4 panels.
If you email me I will show you where to look.
