Am just ready to drop off my valve cover to a powder coater... did one with black high heat and it is just "ok". I did the painting on a sunday and didn't have any emery paper... went everywhere in town and no one was open...finally at a "dollar" store I found a three pack of foam backed pads (they look like 3M)... anyway, there were three different grades... they happen to be the right width (except for that one spot) to do all the stripes together ( I think a dremel might do each at a different rate). They worked great... the final "fine" is just a bit "not fine enough", however I got a shine out of it. Before I painted it I sanded down the lines and logo with a little "palm sander"... by the way, when you do this, mask off the cover on each side of the outside lines...even with a sanding block it is easy to scuff the "new" paint. Send photos...what colour... how much ( I got a quote of $50.00 CAN... that's about 30 american).
