In Reply to: HELP! EML dash lamp lit. What??? posted by jim on October 28, 2000 at 21:52:50:

know if it will work on yours.Reset procedure:
Turn ignition key all the way short of turning over the starter, three times.
On the fourth try turn key all the way.

Try it and see.

535i M30 engine, automatic.
Car has been sitting while being stripped, repainted and refurbed.
I have removed the flashers, side markers, brake/tail, etc. Car has been started weekly. Computer would display normal lamp error messages.
Today I started it and an orange ELM illuminated on the dash between the battery and the oil lamp indicators.
I have searched all my BMW factory service manuals, owners manual, Bentley and can find no mention of this indicator and what it means.
Any information or assistance is greatly appreciated.
