I'd second two suggestion already made - the Dunlop SP5000s are now on our Passat and they've yet to squeal going around a corner, something I couldn't say about the MXV4s they replaced. I also had a good experience with BF Goodrich VR4s, although I think I had Radial T/As rather than the Touring T/As that were suggested. They had great treadlife (340), and were fairly sporty, but the design is at least 10 yrs old compared to the brand new SP5000s. The VR4s were OK in the snow, I've yet to try the SP5000s in the snow, but they got good marks in the tire survey at Tire Rack.
