And of course, noted the unamended final line
"Yep, I'm pretty fond of the bronze-beige beast"
(insert 1989 535i 5m) is as applicable to you on the maple syrup side of the world as is to me the Foster's one........
I am an E34 lover.
I like final drive to go to the $1200 rear wheels.
I believe German torque is my friend, and I need not have 8k on the dial (when its working) to take off.
I like the substantive feel of the clutch ($680), gear shift($7000), steering($920) and brakes($840), and the fact that it drives nothing like a Japanese/Korean sh*tbox
I like the fact that I can pull big G's in the corners(with only an occassional clunk)
I like the fact that it rewards good driving
I do not believe I need go-balls and wheel spinners.
I do not resort to gold plated highlights.
I take pride in the level of over-engineering now abandoned.
I expect my E34 to drive the same way for another 10 years. (when E39's will then be worth only $8900.00)
I like the fact I can work on it with just a $51.00 Bentley's and BMW's special tool #10 435 29.
I like the relative simplicity of the design(only 18 miles of wiring).
I get a "chime" out of driving it each day, even if on the freeway.
I like the fact that nowhere else today can I buy a well-engineered large capacity straight 6 rwd car.
Yep, I'm pretty fond of the bronze-beige beast.
