My wife's car, a 535i automatic, has the tachometer sticking when it hits about 3000. Sometimes a little after, sometimes before. It will drop as you slow, and works fine in overdrive under 3000. It was working without problem. I smacked the dash a few times and nothing,(Out of frustration of knowing I'm going to have to pull the SRS & wheel to get it out)it holds rock hard at 3000. I'm thinking it's a mechanical failure or sticky needle in the tach. Anyone out there had this happen?? And any recommendations on a good repair sho? I fear asking what a new one or even a scrap yard unit goes for. Thanks = Jim jblj@gte.net
