I am currently driving an 85 535 5 speed. I recently drove a 530 auto. It seemed slow compared to the 535. Is the 540 a much quicker car? Thanks Ed


The 530i manual is more satisfying than the automatic version. If you want the automatic then you should go with the larger V8 to make up the difference. Jim

Agreed!!! I drove a couple of 530 auto's and liked the 5 speed a whole lot more. Bought it and still love it! The suto's seemed to hunt for the right gear a lot.
