Tire wear - adjustable camber plates (archive)

I bought my 90 535i recently. It has 17" tires on the rear and they wear a lot on the inside edge as you know. It seems to me that the KMAC adjustable camber plates would only help if I use a camber setting different from stock. Am I understanding this correctly or does changing the pivot point on the top of the strut mount make a difference. What is the concensus for a camber setting with 17" tires?
