Clunking sound when air con is switched on. Help! (archive)

Hi,

The lst 3 weeks, there is a clunking noise from under the bonnet when I sitch on the air con in the morning. I stress in the morning...cos when I sitch it on the rest of the day, there is no sound.

The noise last for one second (like about 3 'clunks') and then all is well.

Any ideas?? Thanks
