The body and interior are generic throughout the range with obvious differences related to whether the model is finished with leather or not. The other differences are that M5s and many other E34's were equipped with sports seats (usually leather)and the M5 had a rear seat designed for 2 people as opposed to the bench type 3 seater everyone else has.

In terms of body the main differences are wheels with many alloy variations on the standard 'wire' and 'bottle top' types and of course the M5 had two styles.

The bonnets (hoods to the foreigners) and grilles changed in 1994 to the wider kidney grille and matching bonnet hood.

Finally the front air dams can be divided into standard, Motorsport and M-Tech styles.
