I had the same problem after replacing my radiator. I was able to clear the "Check Coolant" error by cleaning the connectors on the coolant level sensor.

I have a 1994 530i. The radiator was replaced under warranty 3 or 4 months ago. No problems.

Over the last two weeks I am getting intermittent "Check Coolant" messages, yet I need no coolant. The car is not running hot. Now I have started using the heater a bit.

Could an air pocket be the problem? Or is the sending unit shot?
