I also own a 94 530i. I had block replaced and for 2 years thereafter fought with the dealer that replaced my engine about rough idle. I started each conversation with "I know they all do that and its a high performance machine" so I wouldnt have to hear it from them. They replaced O2 sensors, rebuilt alternator among other things. I in disqust desided to take it elsewhere and pay myself. Took to another dealer and they found the intake manifold gasket was leaking and that throttle air intake boot was cracked. I paid way to much to have simple parts replaced but they assured it would fix the problem which it did. My 530i runs smooth as silk. Good luck. Callen 94 530i 91 535i 5 spds.
just curious if anyone has experienced a stronger than expected lope at idle with their new short block(especially in their 530i 5 speed). I have 2,500 miles on my new block and feel that the idle lopes or rocks more so than my old Nikasil block. Keep in mind I also paid the dealer to tune the valves and service "everything" that was not included/covered in the block replacement. Dealer says the car idles great which leads me to believe I am victim to the infamous "that's just the way the V-8's are" excuse. My 530i is running great, however the idle seems to lope/rock at idle, red lights, to the point where you feel it in the driver seat. So basically I am curious if any other 530/540 owners with new blocks are experiencing the same thing. Thanks
