I just finished rebuilding my front end on my '89 535, same sort of accident, I feel your pain. I used Copartfinder.com and found a clean front clip for my car, they have good pics. For $2300 I got everything, from the windshield up and minus the engine, including the airbag, main module, and sensors( even the same color, white; very little painting to do). It is definetely cheaper to buy a clip if your fans, lights, hood, clips, brackets, fenders and misc internals are broken. BMW parts are extremely expensive, as you already know. Good luck on your project. It took me less than a week to rebuild mine, but it helps that I also work in a body shop.
