Send it to United Radio in Syracuse, NY. They should be able Fix it for $50.00!

My factory radio freaked out and seems to think there is a tape in the tape deck although there isn't one. It just displays a "1" and sits there. The only thing I can get to work at this point is the friggin weather band.

SO I bought a new radio (Blaupunkt Honoulu) for the car. I took it to an installation shop and they said my car may have an amplifier (or multiple amplifiers?) that complicates installation to the point at which they don't want to do it. To be honest, I didn't really get the impression that they knew what they were doing.

The car is an '89 525i. The radio does have the weather band feature.

Has anyone replaced this radio? What is involved? Do I need new wiring? I don't really want to do it myself -- what should I expect to pay?

Please help! Driving around w/o tunes is sheer torture!
