I'm deciding whether to buy a 93 535i. At 45000 miles, service records show a replacement camshaft. According to the service manager, the customer reported "noisy valves." Another 5000 miles have been put on the car without any problems. Is such a replacement weird or common? Comments? Thanks. P.J.

there was a problem with bmw535 from 09/92-93
that the cam shaft wore out under 100k and also there was a modified oil bolt that holds the lubrification rod for the valve train..
Bmw has come out with a harden (lobes)type camshaft to resolve the unusual wear of the lobe...
if the price is right the no reason not to buy the considering the milage.
hope this helps
