So I went off in search of a more "local" powder coating place this morning... (closest inexpensive place was 2 hours away...). Went to the local Auto Paint Supply Store and asked if he sold any powder coatings ... he mentioned a new business in town. Found them finally (gee, signs would be such a good thing)... and talked to the guy... he said he could do the three pieces for $150.00, but masking out the logos would be hours of work... He also mentioned that you have to use the special "high heat tape"... and if I wanted to do it I could. So I spent the next two hours cutting tape and masking off aluminum lines and logos. At 12:30 he preheated the parts and at 1 he sprayed them... put them in the oven at 392 degrees F and left them for 20 minutes... When they came out they were gorgeous... black and black and black. Peeled off the tape and, although this is a really bad Quick Cam shot this was the result.
