That's what worries me - the pump. Oil pumps are pretty hardy creatures from my experience, do you know if there are any inherent weaknesses in BMW pumps? I'll have to check Bentley to see whether it's a vane or gear type.

Replacing the sensor almost seems like wishful thinking but that is certainly the simplest course of action.


Sensor is about $12.00. Have a mechanic replace it, he can do a pressue test at the same time (if you replace the sensor and the light always stays OFF, would you start worrying, gee maybe the pressure really IS low and somehow the new sensor is busted? I would.). Anyway, I just had the same issue, mechanic verified pressure is OK, put in the new sensor, and I am MUCH more at ease with my E32/M30.
