Would like advise on purchasing this model. Have 1986 635 which is fantastic. looking for daily driver Honest opinions would be appreciated.

I purchased a '95 530 5-speed a few months ago and have mixed emotions about the car when compared with my trusty '88 535is. Here are my opinions --

530 Pros:
it rides nice, especially quiet and comfortable on the highway; silky-smooth engine; more convenience and safety features; much-improved climate control; slightly better overall gas mileage than 3.5l 6.

530 Cons:
somewhat bland styling; parts are more expensive and the car is more complex (i.e., harder to troubleshoot and fix); handling not as crisp; overall, not as much fun to drive everyday.

In summary, I've been disappointed in the 530. After only a few months, I'm already considering replacing it with another BMW because it's just not what I was hoping for.

Please don't get me wrong -- I'm not totally down on the 530 -- it's a really nice car. I just think that it doesn't have the personality and character of the older 5s (or 6s).
