sunroof does not close completely???!??!? (archive)

First it's the instrument lights, now this.

Normally, the sunroof would close, then "pop up" to seal it. For some reason, mine wouldn't do the pop up thing, leaving the interior unsealed to the elements. I tried pressing (instead of sliding) the sunroof switch. I also tried holding the key in the "windows, sunroof close" position in the driver's door lock, nothing. It's raining outside & I have to go somewhere! I have an 89 535i by the way. Help!
