My 17yr old kid wanted to check out the new LS430, which his bud's dad is buying. We got out, a salesman materialized and seeing my (beautiful) 95 540, pronounced that the new GS430 was a better car ,and he would show me (and my son Ian). He had me take it out on the freeway, floor it from stop onto the frwy; then punch it from about 65-100. Its fast, but I expected a little more punch, with 4.3L and 300+ ftlbs torque. The interior is finished impeccably, if with a bit of a sci-fi cockpit. My stock 95 540 with 70k mi has equal punch, and still has tighter handling and a feel for the road that the Lexus hasn't been able to capture. Your rich granny might like one; she can grab one off the lot - she'll have to wait months for a new 540.
