Would be to put a 8" or 10" woofer in a sealed enclosure in the trunk.

Lows will go though the parcel shelf and the back seat well enough. If you have the ski pass through it work even better.

Tune the enclosure right and keep the volume at a reasonable level and it won't be too bad.
If you want it loud, this won't work, the trunk will buzz.

Keep 5 1/4" mid-low speakers in the factory cut-outs with the factory grils.

I prefer a stealth system. After my Jetta GLI was stolen the SECOND time, I've gone low profile nothing flashy and never had a problem.

My main complaint with the stock (1990) system is the speakers in the front kick panels. Ick. That would be my first canidate for a redo.

There is a wiring diagram in the Bently manual. Go ahead and spend the money -- the book is worth having.

Ok, I know its been posted a million times, but
I am guting my stereo system in my 535.
I have a new blaupunkt cd tuner, a set of 5 1/4 component set (twed and mid w/ crossover) for the front, 2 good 300 watt amps.
But what do I put in the rear slots??? What will fit, a 5 1/4 is really small.
How easy is it to cut the hole and add a say 5x7 or 6x9 good 2 or 3 way..
Had the same setup in my 3 series and it was awsume.
I am not a real sub woofer fan, I want clean not boom.
Any ideas????
Also anyone got the wiring diagram or a link to one..
