My 1990 525i w/ LSD feels fine in rain and snow. I have spun out a couple times in the rain and lost traction in the snow, but this was more due to some poor driving. Snow tires help a lot. Get them if you plan to drive your car daily in the snow. They are expensive, but so is your life. If people are passing, let them. I live in southern callifornia now where tons of drivers dont know how to drive in poor conditions. They go zooming by at 85 mph in heavy rain and dont even hesitate to weave in and out of traffic. I have driven an 850i with ASC extensively in the snow and feel that it is much harder to lose traction. Of course this was the same car that I crashed after sliping on ice in the mountains of WV. Basically the best thing to do is adjust your driving to the road conditions. Slow is better than dead.
