This data is directly from the Phillips catalog. I am Lighting Certified by the NCQLP(I can do lighting design) and work for a major lighting fixture manufacturer.

FACTS
MSC - Light output in Mean Spherical Candela.
LIFE - Expected lamp life when 1/2 of lamps will fail in hours.

HID
D2R/D2S - 223/255 MSC, 3000 LIFE

HALOGEN
9005 - 136MSC, 150 LIFE
9005 BLUE - 135 MSC, 150 LIFE
9005 HIGH OUTPUT - 147 MSC, 320 LIFE
9005 WEATHER - 135 MSC, 360 LIFE

9006 - 80 MSC, 360 LIFE
9006 BLUE - 79 MSC, 360 LIFE
9006 HIGH OUTPUT - 86 MSC, 980 LIFE
9006 WEATHER - 79 MSC, 1000 LIFE

OPINION
Blue light, whiter light, is more comfortable for the human eye in an everyday enviroment, but in our daily driving, the light output is what matters(IMHO BLUE is not worth $$$, cosmetic only).
When retrofitting the 9005 clean the lens and the reflector. You can lose between 15%-30% of your available light by having dirty optics. If your aiming was good before, leave it. Reaiming will never fill those voids. It's what we call in the industry, spill light (uncontrolled light).

I have standard 9005 retrofited into my lows. Looking for change to HO or those Weather lamps for extended life if possible. Can't justify $400+ HID yet. That by far is the best option.
