My windshield was replaced via insurance. It is aftermarket glass, I believe PPG brand. The shaded border on the top is a little more blue/green, in color, than the stock one. But the shaded band is wider - I like that. The stock windshields seem to pit very easily - that is why BMW recommends cleaning stock ones with "Bon Ami" cleanser. The PPG windshield does show signs of regular, freeway, driving pits. I do not think it is more durable though.

Hi,

I want to replace the windshield on my 95 540i. Is there a big difference between the fatory glass and the ones from outside vendors? The price difference seems to be a lot and I was wondering if I should really spend all that money. Suggestions please..
