My Sony deck had a similar problem, it was like having a big blue flashing neon light in the middle of the dash. The PO had it installed when he owned it, so I had no manual. I poked around in the menus, and came across the dim option. It allowed me to set it for auto dimming, which I imagine is in conjunction with the car's instrumentation dimming, or for constantly dim. Since the auto-dimming wasn't wired up properly, I set it for perma-dim and I've been happy. No more glow.

I just had an aftermarket CD Receiver installed. Sounds great and I have a CD player at my fingertips. It is rated at 45 x 4 watts or something like that. Model is a Kenwood KDC-515s. It gets VERY loud. Fortunately, I'm not an audiophile so my ears dont require expensive sound equipment. I spent around $300. One probem is, the display on the new deck is too bright, with one light in particular that looks like a beacon. I wonder if I can dim the thing. Something that you can't see at the store.
I am asking for opinions. My car is a 95 525ia that I plan to keep for a while. Should I sell the BMW Alpine 5 radio I removed and if so what is the going price?
