Thank you Bill ! We'll see next month if the light goes out

I had the same problem in my '95 540. Ran out of gas and the light stayed on. BMW tech said to run it for a month, and the guage would reset itself. He was right; eventually it went out.

Does anyone of you know how to reset the "check engine" warning light ? It lit after the car began splittering as it ran out of gas (the computer said I still had 13 miles to go...). By the way, how do I reset the oil change light after I carried the oil change myself ?
Thank you very much !
