Ugh, today has been wonderful. I was driving to work on the freeway this morning, and traffic ahead was beginning to slow down pretty rapidly, so I started braking. All of a sudden, the rear brakes locked up and the car whipped around, facing the wrong direction in the slow lane. A truck hit me, and I spun a bit more before stopping. My GF's car is totaled, she's gonna love that. So, after I eventually got to work, there was a message waiting from my shop. Last night two of the cars in their parking lot were spray-painted. Guess who's car got a new paint job? They sent it to a detailer, who supposedly got it all off and the car looks beautiful now. I haven't seen it yet...My car won't be ready until next week, which leaves me with no car for a week. The shop's loaner was totaled last week.

I think I'm going to shoot myself.

For those of you who are remotely interested, there have been new developements with my car...

The bad noise I've been hearing is in fact a worn flywheel. Being replaced with E28 unit and new clutch, as planned. Tranny checked out with a clean bill of health, praise the Lord. I'm also having a new UUC Height-Adjustable Street-EVO short shifter with the upgraded bushings installed.

Total cost is estimated at $1000-$1500. I'll get it back next week sometime. I'm driving an '84 318 with almost 200k miles on it in the mean time. Words cannot describe it, and if there were any that could, I probably shouldn't say them here anyway. Example of the torture - if you think your E34 has an annoying rocking seat, sit in this car...My shoulders actually touch the window on most corners...I'm going to Home Depot and buying the biggest hammer I can find later tonight...

Joe
