I would assume so. I went through a emissions inspection this summer where they put the rear wheels on rollers and run the car up to 60mph. Well, the guy didn't know how to turn off the ASC, and he was trying to floor the accelerator, but the brakes kept on coming on. The ASC computer was reading that the front wheels weren't turning and tried to stop the back wheels by applying the brakes. At first, I didn't know what he was doing, I thought he was stepping on the brakes. Then he came out to ask me how to turn off the ASC. I saw that the brakes were working hard, so there is extra wear on my rear brakes/rotors.
Would the pulsating action of the ASC and ABS systems, particularly from frequent use during the winter, lead to shortened rotor life?
Previous to my 95 540, I owned a Eagle Vision with Traction Control and ABS. After one winter of heavy use (didn't think anything to use the traction control or ABS), my rotors were warped. Coincidence?
This intuitively makes sense although I'm not an expert.
