We had the original style Blizzaks on our now departed Honda. They were still good after three winters (mid Dec to Mar 15 every year). That was about 12,500 miles of very careful driving...the only kind of driving you can really do with Blizzaks anyway. I forget the exact amount of tread that you need to have left to be sure you're still in the microcell compound, but we were pretty close when we sold the car. Maybe talk to someone at tirerack to get the exact tread depth where they're still good.
