I'm not sure what an E-01 error is, but...is it a BMW Alpine or a Alpine changer you bought from some store? Depending on your year BMW, BMW made special wiring harness connectors which force you to buy the changer from them.

There are some aftermarket harness adaptors out there (check the archives from this list) but not all years are covered i think (my '95 isn't).

If it is the BMW changer, you can send the changer back to Alpine directly and save a bunch of money. I have to get my changer fixed and the cost will be about $100 if I am lucky. BMW dealership was more.

good luck

Does anyone have an aftermarket Alpine CD changer in their cars? If so, what does the E-01 message mean. I am getting this error and it won't play disks. Is this something I can fix myself, or will I have to bring it in to get repaired?
Thanks....Jeff B
