I own a 1990 535i. My 1st problem is the inaccurate spray of the windshield washer jets. The spray points at uneven angles: Drivers side shoots too high and passenger side shoots too low.
The second concern is the steering wheel. It's just too loose. As I understand, they normally are supposed to get tighter the faster you drive, but this bloody thing seems to be disconnected from the front wheels and its just unnerving when driving at 180 or 200km/hr and even at 80km/hr. I am too afraid to change lanes.
A BMW dealership told me that threads in the steering box are worn: Cost $1500
An independant BMW garage says that all 5 series of that generation are like that, only the 7 series came with this variable-assist steering wheel.
Please I am looking for some input and recommendations from you experts.
Your wiper nozzles are adjustable, just stick a needle in and rotate it to the angle you want. My mechanic adjusted my steering, but it wasn't as bad as yours sounds. Lots of luck.....
