My '90 was Black (not sure the official color) but the same finish as yours. You can tell it is not clear coat by waxing it. Do your polish pad and buffing towels turn black (or whatever color car you are waxing)? Then you do not have clearcoat. My new baby is Silver and the wax pad and towel stay nice and white. Not too sure exactly which colors are clearcoated and when BMW started using it. But at least you know how to check now :o)
I do not attend too many CCA meetings as I usually have other plans and they are a little boring. You should come out to some of our UUC Garage gatherings. Dave and Busters, Karting, or other macho car guy things, no politics to bore us out :o) Let me know if you are interested and I will give you some info. Take care.
You mentioned that your new ride has clearcoat paint, but your old one didn't. Is that correct? I'm curious as to which colors had the clearcoat or whether or not it differed between model years. Just trying to satisfy my curiosity.
As for the polish and the hoses, I'm all set in that department (couldn't use the hoses anyway : )
Not that I could wash the car anyway, it's raining buckets here.
PS: I didn't see you at the CCA meeting last weekend!
