I would not get the HDTV yet. Just get a nice 50" or 52". I got a 50" toshiba for $1200 a year ago. The price of the HDTVs will drop $1200 by the time that they are the mainstream. By then you will know what HDTV system will work. Remember the dish will only get you 450 lines of resolation, so a tv with 1000 lines is no better than one with 800. Some guys I work w/ got 60" this yeat for $1400-$1600. Remember the sales people will push the HDTV hard, they cost more and they get more commission. In the store the TV that costs $2500 will have a better picture than the one that cost $1500. the $1500 TV still has a great picture. I doubt that the $2500 TVs pic is 66% better as the price reflects.Good Luck.
My dad's looking for a HDTV big screen for our new house. He's working with a 52" opening (width), 53" and 56" TV's fit. He will probably go with Dish Networks for the service. He's seeing these TV's that say things like "1080i", "480p", "720p", what does this mean? What's the difference? Can anyone recommend a good site to learn about this stuff? Recommendations for a good TV would be helpful too. He's looking at a Panasonic 56" they carry at CostCo ($1,100 cheaper than the same one at Fry's! =P)
I know it's way off topic, but I figured you bimmer drivers gotta know something about this stuff! =)
Thanks a bunch.
