Not to worry. Given the proper care and feeding, this car should last you a long long time. Keep it 'till the new born turns 16...

'89 535i w/230K miles, first owner as well (have replaced only the typical stuff: radiator, thermostat, water pump, brakes, tires, etc, - nothing major).


M50 w/o double vanos. Oil changes every 3K miles, all services done by qualified mechanic, water pump and radiator replaced at 145K, suspension upgrade done at 145K including bilsteins and H&R and recently new rear rotors and pads along with a valve cover gasket.
I live in SoCal 16 mile freeway commute never drive over 4K RPM's garaged and only driven hard in a straight line no real strees on the car.
Question is when will the engine need to be replaced as well as the transmission?
I am the original owner and have a newborn next month and don't want to get stranded.
