You'll need to remove the center grill assembly first. This is attached to the long strip of trim that runs directy below the headlamps and just above the bumper. It's also the same color as the car. Pry it off gently so as to avoid bending anything. Once the center grill assembly is off and out of the way, you'll find 5 screws that hold on the headlamp assembly (black grill assembly); 3 on the bottom and 2 on top. The bottom ones are not visible untill you remove the center grill panel. Hope this helps and good luck.

I am installing clear corners in my friends '89 535i, and I can't figure out how to take the headlight assembly off! Please Help!
