Try hitting the ball joint back up into position using a hammer. That usually gets it stuck enough to get the nut off for me.



I can't keep the ball joint bolt from turning when I'm trying to remove the ball joint nut, on top sway bar connection to strut. I've tried applying pressure with channel locks but still can't break it loose. I'm now waiting for WD40 to soak!

Trying to lower 1990 535i.....Ed
