On the '91 M5, the lamps stay lit after locking the doors from the outside, on the '90 535 the lights would blink during lock and immediately go out.

During the 2 1/2 years of ownership of the 535, these lights turned off immediately 99.9% of the time. Sometimes the double lock feature wouldn't work until the ignition was cycled.

The power retention works from inside until the driver's door is opened (same for both cars).

Since there are many slight electrical changes to the '91 (e.g. momentary switches for DEF/AC/Recirc, seat heaters) this may be one of the changes. Does anybody know for sure?
