Remove the side carpeting in the trunk (opposite piece to the one you take off for the jack). There you should see the factory amp and a round (?) plug plastic tied to a cable just sitting there. That should be the CD changer plug.
I believe all E34s from '90 on were prewired for a bunch of stuff.
