Even if the car needs some significant work it's a bargain. Most of the six speeds were sold late in '95 and early '96 so there is a very good chance that the engine warantee is still in effect. BMW dealers will not "certify" a car this old, so if one is traded in they just send it off to auction or a "used" car lot. The auctioneer could actually be an agent of the dealer. I bet they gave the owner about 16k for it. The only thing that bugs me is that I no longer got the best deal on a 95 6-speed that I've ever heard of: $20,500 for a 65k one owner cream puff exactly one year ago. I've spent 3k putting it in mint condition right down to the heated mirrors ($70 each!) and I couldn't be happier.

That's a no reserve auction. I just spotted it while cruising around ebay. Sounds incredible to me.
